In The Pitsco Experience video, we highlight the role the teacher can and does play in a student’s present-day and future success. We feature four students throughout a brief span of a few years in a teacher’s career and then again in a nod to their futures. This brief cycle in a teacher’s career is meant to reinforce the importance of educators, hands-on education, and the transformation that can happen in a classroom.

July 24 is National Amelia Earhart Day, a day that honors her birth as well as her achievements.
Born Amelia Mary Earhart on July 24, 1897, (in Pitsco’s home state, and more specifically in Atchison, KS) Earhart began challenging the notion of what girls could do at a young age, eschewing expected female norms for climbing trees and hunting rats with a .22 rifle. She even collected news clippings about women succeeding in traditional male fields (Amelia Earhart).

Friday is World Oceans Day! It’s a day worth celebrating. Here’s why:
Oceans make up an astounding two-thirds of our planet. The blue water generates the oxygen we breathe, feeds us, regulates our climate, and so much more (World Oceans Day).
As such, everyone plays a role in the enjoyment, exploration, and protection of this environment. While zoos and aquariums are leading the charge to positively impact ocean health, destination coastal resorts are also beginning to use tourism as activism by empowering visitors to learn about the challenges faced by the beautiful environments that surround them. Even in our everyday lives, we can do more to be conscious of our habits and daily actions and really make a difference.
