Hi there! I work in Product Support and Tech Support, which means our customers call, email, or chat with me when they have questions about our products. I love troubleshooting issues and finding solutions for our customers. I also help implement our curriculum solutions into schools. I’m an alumna from Pittsburg State University. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and camping. If I’m not working on renovating my 100-year-old home, I’m probably planning my next trip!

We are approaching 50 years in business and we’ve seen a lot of trends come and go in the education space. The constant though, and the heart of if all, remains the same: educators and students.

As spring heads into summer, I’m excited about all the produce that will come out of my garden or from our local farmers’ market. The season also has me thinking about all the nutrients necessary for healthy plants and soil as well as even thinking ahead to what to do with waste at the end of the season. National Bird Feeder Month: Hands-on learning and fun flock together

During a recent visit to a school in McQueeny, Texas, I noticed bird feeders in the courtyard and attached to classroom windows. This prompted me to reflect back to childhood, on the time I spent watching birds from my parents’ deck and my grandparents’ backyard. I could spend hours watching the birds flitting and fleeting between the feeders and their perches in the trees; watching them brought me such joy.

Static electricity – this might shock you

We’re all familiar with the static cling when we forget to put the dryer sheet in the dryer, especially during the winter season. Or maybe you’ve gotten shocked as you touch a door handle or pet your dog. These shocking experiences are due to static electricity, which is a buildup of electric charges. Winter is a great time to learn about static electricity because the air tends to be drier along with our skin and hair. There are many simple experiments you can do with students or children in your life to connect everyday experiences to science.

Wearable tech: Code Cube™ is here!

In November, Pitsco held the official launch party for our new proprietary coding product, Code Cube. Code Cube is a wearable tech learning tool that offers teachers and students a true coding experience not based around a robot. Students can program the 64-pixel LED screen using block-based programming to create unique images, animations, and patterns. With the built-in accelerometer and sound output, students can design programs that play sounds or change sounds as they change position.
